Raanan has outlined the near future of the WordPress for iPhone app. The most interesting part though? The source code for the app is now available at http://iphone.svn.wordpress.org/. You can also browse the repository via Trac at http://iphone.trac.wordpress.org/browser.
If you’ve found a bug or have a new feature to suggest, go file a new ticket. User authentication is done with WordPress.org accounts.

This WordPress for iPhone app uses XML-RPC to post to your blog, so if you are using WordPress 2.6 then make sure you have it enabled under the Settings -> Writing section in wp-admin.
Version 1.0 is just the beginning, we’re already planning for new features.

So Apple has announced that the iPhone will be getting an SDK in February. There’s not direct link to the news so if you haven’t read it yet (where have you been?) check http://www.apple.com/hotnews/ and look around.
There are still lots of unanswered questions though. John Gruber goes over some of the remaining questions. It seems clear that Apple will still want to control what apps your are allowed to install on your iPhone and will void your warranty if you try to do an end run around their system.
I haven’t bought an iPhone yet, but that seems like it is only a matter of time. My 2 year contract with Verizon ends in March, which would make switching less painful.
Will Apple release an SDK for the iPhone? Who cares! The real question, will an iPhone blend?
