Here’s a few bits of information about me. If you are trying to get in touch with me please use my contact form.

I grew up in the Modesto, CA area (Riverbank to be precise) and currently reside in Sandy, UT with my wife (Sarah) and two daughters (Alice and Rachel). Growing up I lived in the central valley of California (Modesto) until age 19, then I lived in Melbourne, Australia for two years (1992 – 1994), serving as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Sarah and I were married in 1996 and after a few years in Modesto, lived in Sacramento, CA for 8 years. In the summer of 2007 we moved to Sandy.

I’m employed by Automattic, you might know them from their work with WordPress.

Lately my interests have been focused on databases. I’m fascinated by the idea of working with large databases, especially when making using of open source technologies like PostgreSQL and MySQL. Most of my coding of late has been with PHP, with a fair bit of Perl over the years. I’m openly biased towards FreeBSD, but that hasn’t stopped me from using Mac OS X, Linux and Windows. I finally gave up on my love/hate relationship with Sendmail and have embraced Postfix as a replacement. I’d been beating Sendmail into submission since 1996 and it was finally time to let it go.
